Ireland host Palestinian Boxing Prospects

Waterford, Ireland

Palestine boxing prospects Eslam Irsheid (18), Mohamed Rabee aka Tyson (22) and young and upcoming Boxing Coach Nader Jayousi were hosted in Ireland recently as part of a Boxing and cultural exchange. The experience was organised by Palestine MMA in conjunction with Irish MMA fighter Brian Partridge. This is the first exchange of its kind between the two countries and provided the team with the opportunity to expand their learning as they aim for future Olympic representation.

“Brian, his family and the broader Irish community showed immense generosity in hosting the guys – the experience was invaluable in exposing the team to the realities of what needs to be done in order to be competitive on the world stage” said Palestine MMA Director, Michael Dahdal.

“They had the opportunity to train at St. Saviours Boxing Club in Waterford, under the watchful eye of world class coach Barty Simpson, as well as at the national high performance centre in Dublin” he added.

Although it took the guys a little time to get acclimatized to the new environment, the reports coming out of Ireland were that they showed tremendous improvement over the course of the 3-weeks. The team also formed some new life long friendships, with Brian recently visiting the West Bank to catch up with the guys.

We hope this is the beginning of an ongoing exchange between Palestine MMA and our friends in Ireland. A big heartfelt Thank You!
